Legaltech — a contraction of "Legal" and "Technology" — covers every company and technological innovation reshaping the practice of law. The term spans a broad spectrum: from AI-augmented case law research tools to platforms for automated document drafting, along with firm management software, electronic signature, online mediation and predictive justice solutions.

In France, the legaltech ecosystem is expanding fast. According to the Village de la Justice (August 2025), around 164 active players make up the landscape, with 25% annual growth. Leading names include Doctrine (legal research), Predictice (litigation analytics, acquired by Doctrine), LegalPlace (company formation) and the Septeo group, valued at 3 billion euros. In December 2025, France's DGE (Directorate-General for Enterprise) launched the "France Legaltech" program to support the sector.

For legal professionals, legaltech is no longer an option but a daily reality. The question is no longer whether to adopt these tools, but which ones to choose and how to integrate them into practice. Law firms and legal departments that master this ecosystem gain in productivity, quality of service and competitiveness.
