WeClaim

Online dispute resolution platform combining technology

Headquarters
Paris, France

Overview

Online dispute resolution platform combining technology, automation of legal processes and litigation funding. Co-founded by Frederic Pelouze, a graduate of HEC and Columbia University and a former lawyer aged 32 at launch, and Damien Couture, both from Pau, WeClaim specialized in compensating air passengers affected by flight delays or cancellations, before expanding into employment law, real estate and transport. The solution encodes law and case law to automate the handling of legal cases, while a lawyer represents the client in court. The business model is success-based: no upfront costs for the client, with the platform charging a 25% commission only if the case is won. WeClaim was incubated at Agoranov in Paris, one of the leading incubators for tech startups. Note: the company is currently in court-ordered liquidation and the website is no longer accessible. The no win no fee approach made proceedings accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. The pioneering concept of encoding law allowed cases to be handled at scale. Co-founder Damien Couture brought his technical expertise to develop the law and case law encoding algorithms that formed the technological core of the platform.
