Overview

Digital platform for AI-assisted mediation and amicable dispute resolution, launched in January 2020 by Romain Drosne and operated by Europe Mediation SAS. Justice.cool was the first AI-assisted mediation platform to earn the status of court-appointed mediator (mediateur de Justice), listed on the rosters of mediators at the Lyon and Montpellier Courts of Appeal. The platform specializes in the streamlined handling of mass litigation and the prevention of corporate insolvency, combining a next-generation expert engine with machine learning to drastically cut the cost of mediation. A start-up incubated at Station F, Justice.cool serves a wide range of stakeholders: litigants, lawyers, judicial officers, court clerks, judges, mediators, court-appointed experts, insurance companies and debt-collection firms. Romain Drosne, an entrepreneur since 1999 and a graduate of Neoma and ICN, trained in contractual and consumer mediation in 2019 before founding this legaltech. The platform offers a satisfaction-or-refund guarantee across all of its mediations. Platform or association dedicated to mediation and the amicable resolution of disputes in France. Justice & Mediation operates within the framework of France's 2019 justice reform, which made attempting an amicable settlement mandatory for disputes below 5,000 euros. The service offers an alternative to traditional court proceedings by connecting parties in conflict with neutral and impartial mediators trained in conflict-resolution techniques. Mediation, a voluntary and confidential process, allows the parties to reach a negotiated agreement with the help of a professional third party, without going to court. This resolution method applies to common civil disputes: neighbour disputes, tenancy disagreements, and commercial and family conflicts. The creation of the National Mediation Council in 2023, bringing together mediators, mediation associations, courts and public authorities, reflects the growing structuring of the sector in France. In 2024, the French Ministry of Justice made amicable justice one of the flagship measures of its action plan, rolling out platforms connecting people with conciliators and mediators within the jurisdictions of the Colmar and Versailles courts of appeal. The National Mediation Council's progress report, published in 2024, gathers the first opinions, recommendations and proposals to harmonise mediation practices on a national scale.
