Founded in 1986 under the name INAVEM, France Victimes coordinates a support network offering entirely free legal, social and psychological assistance to people affected by acts of violence or crime. In 2024, nearly 410,000 victims were supported by the network's associations, which are funded by the French Ministry of Justice, including more than 147,600 through victim support offices. The free national helpline 116 006 received more than 55,000 calls in 2025. The network relies on 1,450 salaried professionals, 620 representatives present in more than 1,000 reception points across France, as well as a team of 250 legal officers at headquarters and in regional branches.
